Hello and welcome

We are a friendly and welcoming volunteer led multi-sports and social club at the heart of the local community. We are located on the southern border of Greater Manchester and have fine playing and social facilities.

In 2018 the Club was registered as a Community Benefit Society with charitable status.

Sale Cricket and Quoits Club is recorded as being founded in 1854, although reports suggest that games had been played on the Barn Field (as the ground was known as the time) for several years beforehand. Other sports have come and gone, but Tennis (1879) and Hockey (1888) have stood the test of time.

Our ambition

In 2001 the club was officially renamed as Sale Sports Club to reflect the multi-sports ethos of the club. Since then Manchester Village Spartans RUFC and FC Sporting Sale have joined the club so that we now have a true multi-sports offer across five sports.

In recent years the club's fortunes have been reinvigorated, achieving much sporting success whilst still investing in developing our facilities. This includes resurfacing the tennis courts, installing cricket nets and relaying the cricket square.

From 2010 we have employed a Coaching and Development Officer to continue the development of all our sports at senior and junior level, as well as reaching out to the local community and delivering coaching in all the local schools.

We have also introduced Multi Sports school holiday camps throughout the year that have quickly become very popular.

Our members

The club has an open membership policy, always welcome new members and values all volunteers. We have achieved Clubmark accreditation in Cricket, Hockey, Football and Tennis, so you can be assured that we are safe and child friendly.

If you are not willing or able to participate we still have plenty to offer, with a well stocked bar and big screen sports on show, as well as a large function room that can be hired for parties and events.

Please explore our website to find out more about the club and we hope to see you soon!
