SIX YEAR FREEZE ON SUBSCRIPTIONS
A freeze to club subscriptions for a record sixth year was announced at the club AGM on 5th April. This comes two months after we announced a TWO YEAR FREEZE ON DRAFT BEER PRICES. We want to do what we can to help members during the current economic conditions and provide great value to you all.
The club sets a general subscription rate for all members; sections can then add a levy onto this for specific section related costs. If you want more details of what this includes please speak to your section committee.
RICK HALKON WINS J P DAY AWARD
Rick Halkon was announced as the winner of the J P Day Sports Person of the Year award at the AGM after taking 55 wickets in all competitions, with the highlight being named Cheshire County Cricket League performance of the month with 9 wickets for 42 runs at Bollington.
This was the third time Rick has won this award, cemented his place in the annals of the club having only failed to take 50 wickets on one occasion in the last 6 seasons. Off the field his exploits were once against recognised as he met Shane Warne when collecting an award from Sky Sports for his coaching in Cheshire.
THE CLUB COUNCIL NEEDS YOU
All standing officers were re-elected at the AGM, but 2 vacant positions went unfilled. The club council manages the day-to-day operations of the club, as well as looking towards our long term development. The club can only function effectively if we have a full and active club council.
We are seeking an Assistant Membership Secretary to look after our membership database, and a House Chairman to look after the club’s buildings. We will also need an Honorary Secretary next March after Jim Younger indicated he was stepping down at the end of the year. If you are interested but want to know a little more please email Rob Moore, the Club President, call on 07775 880433, or speak to your section representative.
As well as recruiting a new Coaching & Development Officer and head tennis coach we’ve been looking at how we can improve our facilities. We realise they are not up to standard and no longer meet our playing or social needs, draining our finances rather than support the playing of sport. We are assessing the feasibility of a new build clubhouse and an artificial pitch in Sale. We are working up a feasibility study that assesses all options including both 3G and sand filled pitches.
We need your help to progress, if any members are entering an event (such as a run or bike ride), please consider donating some of your sponsorship to our development fund. You can split with any charity you choose. We have Sale Sports Club Just Giving web page set up and it’s really easy to create your own sponsorship page from it.
