Sale all-rounder Tyrone Lawrence received the top accolade of being voted Division One Player of the Year by his peers. He received his award from Vivio Cheshire County Cricket League president John Bygate at the annual awards dinner on Friday evening (pictured above).
Lawrence secured the Mark Alcroft trophy, based on a poll of all the players across the division, after scoring 623 runs and taking 57 wickets in an outstanding season. His fine form resulted in him making his Cheshire debut in the Minor Counties Championship.
Sale had two players in the top three as long serving leg spinner Rick Halkon finished third in the poll after collecting 55 wickets.
The award topped a fine evening for Sale as they collected three trophies. Sale Silverbacks captain Iain Harrop collected the Bill Brown shield as winners of the Over 40’s North East Division (pictured above).
Third team seamer Rob Moore collected the Norman Bloor Shield on behalf of Sale’s third string after they gained promotion to the Sunday Premier division in 2015 as Champions of Division One East (pictured above).
Under 16’s captain Dan Osborne recently collected the Salford Youth League and Cup trophies, making it five trophies in total in a remarkable season for Sale.
Sale are in equally good shape off the field, as it was confirmed that Sale have climbed to 6th place in the pitches table out of 36 league clubs. The club finished above a number of premier league grounds and now have one of the best facilities in the league, a testament to the hard work of the Cricket Committee over a number of years.
