Following the recent resignation of Alan Buchanan, the club council unanimously elected Sue Laister to take up the position under Rule 25-Section 3 of the Club Rules.
Alan Buchanan was elected as president at the last election but over the Christmas period he indicated that he wishes to relinquish the role with immediate effect.
The council wish to express their gratitude to Alan for the leadership he has shown during the year which has allowed the club to make progress on a number of key issues – not least examining and evaluating the options for the development of our facilities in the future in terms of hockey playing surface, changing facilitates and clubhouse. Alan has maintained a resolute focus on development and has been a key player in our negotiations with Trafford and on the working party which the council has established under the chairmanship of Steve Hodkinson.
Sue Laister is a long standing member of the ladies’ hockey section. She has played both hockey and cricket at representative level and is a qualified hockey coach and cricket umpire. She has great professional commercial experience and has been a club vice-president. She will continue to double up the presidency with her former role as club commercial director.
At a recent council meeting, Dave Walmsley – who is a past president, secretary, social secretary and treasurer of the club – agreed to take over the vacant position of club secretary which he combines with his role as a vice-president.
