Sale Cricket Club 1st XI got back to winning ways in a nail biting finish on Saturday. Sale climbed out of the bottom two in division one of the Vivio Cheshire County League with a win against fellow strugglers Macclesfield.
Search sponsored Sale asked Macclesfield to bat first and soon had them in trouble as Tyrone Lawrence took 4 early wickets (pictured above by George Franks).
Rick Halkon then got in on the act with 3-27. Only John Birchall showed any resistance for the visitors with 69.
Lawrence returned to complete a five wicket hall (5-32) and Ben Watkins dismissed Birchall as Macclesfield were bowled out for 106 in the 44th over.
Sale made hard work of the chase, Lawrence top scoring with 24 before Rich Adams and Mal Clarke knocked off the required runs with 12 overs to spare.
Sale 2nd XI had a day to forget at league leaders Cheadle on Saturday, Dan Newton top scoring with 25 as Sale were dismissed for 94.
Cheadle reached their target for the loss of two wickets in the 27th over.
Sale 3rd XI also came up against the league leaders as they faced Didsbury and got off to a great start as they reduced the visitors to 13-4.
Chris Elsden then hit back as Didsbury posted 170 all out, Shah Zeb taking 4025 and Moh Rizvi 4-60.
In reply Sale subsided to 79 all out, Arshad Muhammad top scoring with 26.
Sale 4th XI posted 141 at Ashton-on-Mersey 3rd XI, Tris Brodbeck top scoring with 40 not out and Hemant Sakpal hitting 35.
Ashton reached their target for the loss of 4 wickets.
Earlier in the week Sale Silverbacks, the over 40s side, got their first win of the season against Bowdon. Abbas Rizvi (34), Mark Almond (33) and Iain Harrop (31) all retired at the Sliverbacks posted 166.
In reply Almond took 2-17 as Bowdon reached 116.
