Sale Cricket Club - All Stars Update

Building on another fantastic summer of All Stars Cricket at Sale Cricket Club with over 40 young cricketers enjoying some fantastic sessions put together by the club as part of the ECBs programme to get more 5-8 year olds playing the sport, an autumn follow on coaching programme was planned and delivered from September.

The aim was to provide an 8 week opportunity for some of the older All Stars to continue their involvement in the game and to help bridge the gap into the club's junior section. Every Monday at Sale Grammar school from late September to mid November, twenty budding 7 & 8 year old Ben Stokes attended the weekly follow autumn on sessions delivered by a group of club coaches and young junior volunteers.  The sessions had a weekly theme of either Batting, Bowling or Fielding and led into the final 'Match Night' session where the youngsters were challenged to apply the skills they had learnt and developed in a competitive game.

The commitment and effort shown by the young cricketers was first class and the high attendance each week was testament to just how much they enjoyed the sessions. The youngsters will now be signposted to the clubs junior Winter training programme that starts at Sale High school in January and hopefully we will see many of them wearing the club shirt playing cricket at Dane Road for the under 9s this coming season.
Massive thanks to club coaches Chris, Mark and Simon as well as our Junior volunteers Mal, Arthur and James for the time they all gave to help run the Autumn sessions and make them a successful addition to the club’s coaching calendar.
