Newsletter - 16 July

Following a test run of the new COVID procedures and protocols discussed and agreed at length by the Trustees and I, we are pleased to say that we will be starting a phased re-opening of the Clubhouse and Bar. I am sure you will appreciate that it is not as simple as just turning the lights back on with the added responsibilities we have as a Club to our staff, members, guests and visitors. The added responsibilities also fall on the members, guests and visitors who will be entering the Club and enjoying the facilities in a comfortable and safe environment.

I make no apologies for this email being lengthy but I want to be clear on the protocols for you so that we can all adhere to them for each other's safety.

The process is new to the staff and to you a members. Please be patient with the staff and other members as we all adapt to the process. The process may develop as Government guidelines dictate; as our own experience develops and as we see how members adapt to it.

We do not have a booking service at the moment but this may be brought in depending on demand.

Sale Sports Club COVID Protocols

  1. Do not come down to the Club premises if you are feeling unwell or showing any symptoms of the virus or you have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed as Covid 19 positive in the last 14 days
  2. On entry through the main door, use the hand sanitiser provided – this is compulsory
  3. Check if the stairs are clear, if so, go upstairs keeping to the left hand side of the stairs. On exiting the building, please check the stairs are clear before proceeding down.
  4. The one way system in operation means that entry to the bar area is via the Function Room door so turn left at the top of the stairs
  5. If you are looking to order a drink to take outside, move to the left in the Function Room and wait at the designated tall tables
  6. If you are remaining in the bar area, either please take a seat at a table or in busy periods, please wait to be seated
  7. When taking your order, staff will ask for your name and contact details together with the entry time for “Track & Trace” purposes. These details will be retained for 21 days and then destroyed
  8. Payments should be by contactless payment card with cash only used in exceptional circumstances
  9. Exiting the bar area is via the members area door for the use of toilets or to exit the Club
  10. The balcony remedial work has commenced but until completed and signed off, the balcony is not to be used
  11. Re-entry will be via the Function Room door, as mentioned above
  12. Toilet – maximum of 3 people in the toilets upstairs at any one time. Please wait outside if 3 people are already in the toilet area
  13. Additional hand washing and use of the provided hand sanitisers is recommended by members, guests and our staff on a regular basis

Key Protocols for the safety of staff and members/guests

  • Table service only. Standing/congregating at the bar will not be permitted
  • When indoors, each tables can only have 2 households sat together at a 2m distance
  • When outdoors, there can be 6 people from different households each sat/stood at a 2m distance
  • Maintain social distancing at all times

The above measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of our staff, members and visitors to the Club. Everyone has a personal responsibility to adhere to the measures above. Club staff and officials will not tolerate and wilful disregard of the measure above and reserve the right to ask people to leave or in exceptional circumstances close the facility.

Clubhouse Opening Times

With additional measures that need to be in place, there is an additional staff cost involved. It is reasonable to assume that we will not be going back to the 7 day opening, we had prior to lockdown, anytime soon. The Clubhouse and bar will be open strategically when there is expected to be sufficient demand for the bar service.

The opening times therefore will vary each week.

The scheduled opening over the next week is as follows:

Friday 17th July: 19.00 to 22.00 (Junior cricket match on plus tennis coaching & social)

Saturday 18th July: 15.00 to 22.00 (2nd team cricket friendly starts at 12.00 plus Social tennis during the afternoon)

Wednesday 22nd July: 20.00 to 22.30 (Over 40 Cricket Match starting at 18.00 plus social tennis & coaching)

Tennis, Cricket & Spectator Access

Tennis - continue to access the courts to the right hand side of the main building

Cricket - to access the rear of the building, use the left hand side of the building past the bike lock up

Spectators - we request you adhere to social distancing whilst enjoying the sport on view

Thank you in advance for your tolerance and understanding with the above new processes. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on manager@salesportsclub.com
