Our History

Sale Cricket Club was established in 1854 and has a long history in Lancashire and Cheshire Cricket, from winning the inaugural Manchester & District Stockton Trophy in 1920 through to competing successfully in the Cheshire Pyramid in recent seasons.

Cricket For All

In 2018 we retained the the prestigious Clubmark award, held since 2005, ensuring our club is "safe and child friendly" and has an open membership policy.

Senior training is held on Thursday evenings from 6pm at the club during the season.

Junior indoor training takes place on Sunday afternoons from 19 January 2020 at Sale High School sports hall.

During the season, junior training is held on Monday evenings from mid-April until the end of July.

  • Under 9s: 6-7.30pm
  • Under 11, 13 & 14: 6.15-7.45pm in April. 6.15-8pm from May onwards

Please come along and give it a go, we make all new members welcome!

New Developments

The last decade has seen major developments at the club, including the addition of a 4-bay net facility in 2006 and the relaying of the entire cricket square between 2007 and 2008, both funded by the ECB Community Club Development Fund. We now have one of the largest and best-kept grounds in the North West.

Playing Strength

Our playing strength is stronger than ever. We field four senior teams and an Over 40's team in The Cheshire County League. The 1st XI compete in the 1st division and our 2nd XI have returned to the 1st division after winning the 2nd division title in 2017. We run two Sunday teams: the 3rd team in the were Sunday premier division champions in 2017 and the 4th XI which will feature a mix of ages and abilities with a focus on development of young players.
