We have invested heavily in our facilities in the last few years and now boast one of the best grounds in the North West.
Plans for 2014
We will continue to invest in our ground this year, with work being carried out to:
- improve the supply of water to the square
- install an electronic scoreboard
Exclusive Leisure Ltd installed a new 4-lane synthetic cricket practice facility in 2006 thanks to a £56,153 grant from the Government’s Community Club Development Programme, the first club in Trafford to have benefited from this scheme.
The club followed this up by relaying and downsizing the cricket square in two phases thanks to a second grant of £38,912 grant from the Government’s Community Club Development Programme.
You can see here the various stages of phase one of our pitches reconstruction project. This transformational project was managed by Total Turf Solutions Ltd and completed by main contractors Bancroft Amenities Ltd. The first 6 wickets were constructed on 25th-27th September 2007. The remaining 6 wickets were constructed the following autumn and the full square was back in service for the 2010 season.
State of the art machinery and lots of Ongar cricket dressing were delivered to site. The old square was excavated using laser guided machinery. A new table was then created in two layers, followed by a final grading and over-seeding with 100% rye grass seed mix.
The new pitches fully germinated 4 weeks later ready for a first cut.
The ground has also benefited from new sightscreens, covers and an outfield mower, as well as refurbishment of the scorebox.
