JUNIOR & GIRLS CRICKET

Our award winning junior coaching programme is built around giving boys and girls a fun introduction to cricket, building their technical and social skills, and providing a pathway into county age group and senior cricket.

Coaching sessions are led by our team of volunteer ECB level 2 coaches, well supported by a number of ECB coach assistants.  We actively encourage parents to get involved and will support them achieving the relevant qualifications.

In 2018 we retained the prestigious Clubmark award, held since 2005, ensuring our club is "safe and child-friendly" and has an open membership policy.

During the season, coaching sessions are held on Monday evenings from mid-April until the end of July:

  • Girls only Dynamos           5 - 6pm
  • Under 9s (year 3/4)           6 - 7.30pm
  • Under 10s/11s (year 5/6)  6.10 - 7.45pm
  • Under 12s/13s (year 7/8)  6.20 - 8pm (7.45pm during April)

Please come along and give it a go, we make all new members welcome!

CHANCE TO SHINE AWARD

England Captain Charlotte Edwards presents the award to Rob Moore (left) and Rick Halkon (right)

Our coaching programme received national recognition in 2011 when we were named Chance to Shine Project of the Year at the Brit Insurance annual achievement awards at Lords Cricket Ground.

The star-studded event was attended by the Governor of the Bank of England and Chance to Shine President, Mervyn King, England captains Andrew Strauss and Charlotte Edwards along with fellow England players Chris Tremlett and Jade Dernbach.

The judges praised the club for securing additional funding that allowed the club to employ a dedicated Sports Development Officer to deliver their programme, which resulted in a massive over delivery against the KPI’s and has ensured the sustainability of the programme.
