Young Sale Spinner Isaac Brooks crowned his breakthrough season by being named overall Cheshire Boys player of the year at the recent awards dinner.
The 14 year old left-armer started the season in the Sale 2nd XI as Sale’s fourth choice spinner, but ended the season as the club’s number one slow bowler and a regular in the 1st XI.
Brooks took 21 wickets at an average of 25 for the first team with best figures of 4-37 against Bowdon, winning the Harold Midwinter trophy for Sale’s young player of the year.
He picked up more awards at the Cheshire Youth dinner as he was named overall Boys Player of the Year and Under 14 bowler of the year after picking up 37 wickets including two five wicket hauls, with best figures of 6-23 against Lancashire.
These performances have earned Brooks a place on the Cheshire emerging players programme this winter.
The dinner also saw fellow Sale player Viraj Sorathia named Under 15 improver of the year, reflecting the quality of the coaching programme at Sale and the support of both their parents.
