Sale Cricket Club is delighted to announce a new three-year agreement with Lancashire Cricket that will enable the Club’s players to train at Dane Road.
A number of the Lancashire Cricket players including the Academy and County Age Group Squads will train at Sale and utilise the new cricket facilities. In addition, Sale Cricket Club will host the Thunder’s Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy clash with Southern Vipers on Friday 10 September.
Last week, Thunder’s commercial partnership with Sportsbreaks.com was announced which saw members of the Thunder squad lead a training session with young players from Sale Cricket Club.
In return, Lancashire will install two state of the art stitched pitches at Dane Road, as well as running a number of coaching sessions and player experiences for the club’s junior section involving professional players from both Lancashire and Thunder.
Lancashire’s Director of Cricket Paul Allot commented: “We are thrilled to be working with Sale Cricket Club and utilising their excellent cricket facilities. It is an ideal link-up which eases the current high demand on Emirates Old Trafford and allows our players to play and train somewhere which meets their requirements and is just a short drive from their usual base.
“The extra COVID-19 restrictions currently in place at Emirates Old Trafford meant that an agreement such as this one became a necessity for us, and we thank Sale Cricket Club for their co-operation.”
A delighted Sale Cricket Chairman Jamie Broadbent said: “This announcement is the culmination of a 15 year plan to turn Sale into one of the best club facilities in the North West. One of our main priorities moving forward is to develop our women and girls section so this agreement will give the club a big boost”.
